SO this 5 and a half weeks, has been incredibly busy! My peds rotation was pretty lax compared to some of the classes I've taken in the past. I'm kinda going to miss it, but ready to move on. Up next... critical care. I'm kinda nervous... let's face it, It's going to be intense, intense , intense! I'll try and up date this more often, but I have a feeling I'm going to be WAY more busy in critical care than pediatrics!
But I'm just one step closer to my goal.... seeing that RN behind my name!
So for now....
It's one care plan at a time.

In the land of Sunshine and Palm Trees... Part Two.
Day 4 Bee and I went early afternoon for Pedicures!!! This was SO nice, because I haven't had a pedicure in ... I really don't know how long, but it's been at least a couple years! About 10 minutes from their house there's a professional salon school , so we went there! It was definitely a new experience, but very welcomed. The prices were great, and as a nursing student I completely understand what it's like. Even though I have 'patients' and they have 'clients' it's the same principle. I could empathize with them when their instructors were hovering over their shoulder and watching their every move. I've been in that exact same situation except in a hospital setting. The students did very well, they were very careful and very nice. It was actually nicer going to a school ( I thought) because the pedicure took twice as long as a normal one, and it was cheaper! So I just looked at it.... getting to sit in the comfy massage chairs longer!!!
After Pedicures... we went shopping for a little bit, and I found some super cute sunglasses, and a pretty awesome ring! My mom was lucky enough to find a new purse! For dinner that night, we fondued steak, which was absolutely delicious! I LOVE to fondue, I think it's SO much fun (even though, it takes me forever because I don't like my meat rare) haha. After dinner we headed up to the orange blossom pool. It's one of the prettiest pools down there, It has a waterfall, that goes over the pool. Behind the waterfall is a fabulous hottub which in in a cave kinda like structure, but it has a hole you can look up and see palm trees and the pretty sky! Donnis got a great picture of the pool, by setting my timer and setting my camera on the edge of the pool ( I was SO nervous my camera was going to fall in the pool, but it luckily it didn't!! The nervousness was worth it for the awesome pic!!)
Day 5 This was our last full day in the sunshine state... So we went to the pool one last time, then got ready and went to a New Orleans style restaurant called Harry's. They had amazing food, and the best bread and garlic butter I think I've ever had! Right outside of Harry's is a little park with a cute gazebo. So we went there and walked around. We had to stop in the starbucks and grab a quick drink before we left Ocala. We had decided to rent some movies and do a movie night, since it was our last night. That was a lot of fun! Before we started the movies I wanted to go up to the pool one last time! I was SO glad I did, because they were having entertainment, poolside. By entertainment... I mean laugh out loud entertainment! They were having Karaoke, and those performers were absolutely hilarious!
Day 6 Our last day, we left around 1pm. Bee made us homemade biscuits and gravy, which was delish! Then we had to pack up and leave. :-(
We had such an awesome time down there! It was SO nice, not to have to worry about school or work, and just had a nice week of rest and relaxation! It was truly a vacation!!!!! Florida is such a beautiful state, and we were SO blessed to have amazing weather, and have awesome family to let us stay with them!
Thanks again Bee and Donnis for a great vacation! Love you!
So I guess it's back to reality tomorrow.... Tomorrow begins my second to last quarter of nursing school. This 5 and a half weeks will be .... pediatrics. I don't know whether to be excited or nervous. I guess we'll see after this first week!

In the Land of Sunshine and Palm Trees...Part One
My wonderful Aunt and Uncle, have a beautiful Villa down in Sunny florida!! So for Spring break My mom and I went down to spend the week! And it was absolutely wonderful! Thanks Bee and Donnis for a great vacation! We love you!!
Night One, We arrived around 6:30 Saturday night, and went to a concert of a group called Fleetwood Mix. They were a cover band of Fleetwood Mac. They were awesome and you could really tell they loved what they did. Which was pretty cool. It was also an experience for me, because I had never really heard a whole lot of Fleetwood Mac songs that I had known of, but after listening to them, I did know I couple of them! It was a nice way to Start off our vacay!!
Day 1 You can't go to Florida and not go to the pool! So we ventured out Sunday morning to the pool! It was so relaxing and the weather was SO beautiful! It didn't rain a day we were down there, which was a blessing!!
After the pool, we went down to the town square for vendor night. They sell neat little things. After that we had to stop at the villages Starbucks!! Following Starbucks we played our traditional game of Mexican Train! Phoebe wanted to play too!!
Day 2 We of course visited the pool in the morning, then that evening dressed up and went down to one of the restaurants for entertainment night! We usually go there every year, but saw a different show this year. It was so cute because the Village School choir did a little tribute to the veterans. There of course were some little hams who showed off the whole time! But it made it funny!! After Katie Belles we came home and played a game of Phase 10!
Day 3 ... was Beach Day!!!!We went to New Smyrna Beach, it was such a neat little area. They had a ton of little boutiques and all the shops were painted super cute colors! They weather was absolutely PERFECT! Not too hot, not too cold, but just right. The only thing the water was still a little chilly, but I had to get in, because you don't go to the beach and not at least stick your feet in the water! I tried to look for some shells, but New Smyrna Beach doesn't have as many shells as some of the other beaches do. It was just fun to listen to the ocean, lay under the sun, and walk on the beach!!! Probably one of my favorite things we did!!

Goodbye Spinal Cord Injuries, Total Knee Replacements, Craniotomies, and Brain Tumors...
NEURO IS OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know if I'm more excited about being done with that class, or just the fact that I'm getting a break?!?! I think I'm more excited that I'm done with that class. Although, I learned a lot... just wasn't my thing! It's been a LONG 5 and 1/2 weeks... but it's over and now I'm one step closer to being a nurse!

Missing Mother/Baby Land....
Hello everyone!!
I must start out first by saying, Neuro isn't shaping up to be as bad as I had orginally thought or expected. Things are going smoothly thus far! Although I might add, test number 1 will occur at the end of this week, so my opinions could quite possibly change! Quizzes are going surprisingly well, and I'm trucking through it (so far). The end of the quarters are always the roughest because you know that a break is shortly around the corner! And although spring break is only a week, it's a much anticipated week, I'm preparing to relax and have tons of fun! So my focus right now is very limited! With that said, it's hard to stay focused, I just have to keep reminding myself, I'm almost done and this class will be over before I know it!
But with all that said, I'm especially missing my mother/baby class!!! It's a whole different ball game in mother/baby than any med/surg type unit! It's wonderful! It was my heart, and I certainly hope to be back there someday! That was the first class, I really looked forward to going to clinical/class to!!! So I'm especially missing the land of moms/babies tonight when I'm thinking about all this lovely neuro stuff I should be studying! For example : Increased ICP, Brain Tumors, Parkinsons, MS, Spinal Cord Injury, Visual/Auditory disturbances....etc... the list could go on and on! But you get the drift!!! Anyways...

In the Land of Neuro..... Day 1....
Hello all!
Today was switch day, so no more mother/baby for me and now we're on to neuro. I didn't realize how much I would miss mother/baby. But I miss it SOOOO much! And just to think.... it's only the first day in neuro.
Although, I think neuro will be interesting... it's definitely not my heart.
I do considered myself, and my class blessed. Even though we didn't get the theory instructor we had hoped for... I do believe we have an amazing clinical instructor. Incredibly helpful, funny, wants you to get as much clinical experience as possible, and easy going! Which is great in a clinical instructor.
Even though neuro is not my thing, I'm going to try to go into this quarter with an open mind and heart. Trying not to let the horror stories freak me out!! Lots of prayers will be needed the next 5 and a half weeks!
As for right now I'm gonna take it one care plan at a time,
Sara

Twenty- Two...
I hope everyone enjoys my blog! I will try to update it as much as I can, and I hope to be an encouragement to everyone whether they are just starting nursing school or only have a few months left. Hope you enjoy my ramblings/ experiences as a nursing student!! As for me I have approximately 22 weeks left of nursing school left!!! As hard as that is for me to comprehend I have all kinds of emotions going through me. I'm extremely excited but a little nervous, all the more while anxious, and happy! ( More on that later)
Mother/ Baby
This has been BY FAR my favorite class in nursing school so far!!! I loved every minute of the class, and especially clinicals! The experiences were wonderful! It was just SO amazing to take care of new families, and see the wonderful miracle of life. It boggles my mind that these little babies thrived, and grew inside their mothers for 9 whole months. All the while, preparing to enter this world. It was such a joy to see happy new moms, precious babies, and joyful dads! I absolutely loved the teaching aspect of mother/baby. It was just a wonderful experience ... every bit of it! This is the first quarter where I actually looked forward to getting up at a ridiculous hour to go to clinical!! I'm so sad that my mother/baby rotation is coming to an end and next week I will move on to Neuro.
Hopefully someday I will be back where I'm supposed to be in Mother/baby!!!

Even though, I still have 2 and a half quarters left of nursing school, that is nothing compared to the five and a half I've already endured. Struggling with late nights, early mornings, working while trying to go to school, 45 page care plans, intense check offs, and extremely bad test anxiety.... Jesus has been with me all through my doubts and struggles. Even when I thought I could do it all by myself, when I thought I only should rely on myself; he was there with me all the way!
Now I can finally say the light at the end of the tunnel is finally becoming visible! Actually now that I look back, when I was a baby nursing student, just learning the fundamentals I never thought I would make it. I didn't think I would see even a glimpse of the light. I doubted too much , and wasn't sure if I was cut out for this, not that it wasn't what I wanted to do (because nursing is definitely what I want to do) But rather the stress of everything nursing school, I didn't think I could handle. But I'm SO incredibly happy I did, because now I can finally say it was worth it!
Although, I still have 22 weeks left to go, I couldn't have gotten this far without God, my wonderful family and amazing encouraging friends. And I couldn't forget all of my wonderful classmates and teachers. I have been truly blessed each quarter with great fellow future nurses and don't know what I would have done without them!
To all you future nurses out there, people thinking about nursing, or entering nursing school: **You CAN do it!
***The light at the end of the tunnel , will come!!
****Study whenever you can! And DON'T change your answers on tests! (Unless you absolutely know you clicked the wrong one!)
